{"id":2950,"date":"2017-11-20T17:19:17","date_gmt":"2017-11-20T22:19:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/live-clarivate-innovative.pantheonsite.io\/?p=2950"},"modified":"2017-11-20T17:19:17","modified_gmt":"2017-11-20T22:19:17","slug":"innovative-users-drive-product-innovation-idea-lab-challenge","status":"publish","type":"blog","link":"https:\/\/www.iii.com\/whats-new\/innovative-users-drive-product-innovation-idea-lab-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Innovative Users Drive Product Innovation in Idea Lab Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This blog post comes from Sarah Hickman Auger, Director, Library Product Strategy at Innovative.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After the successful launch of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iii.com\/idea-lab-sheds-light-game-changing-analytics-libraries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Idea Lab<\/a>, we\u2019re excited to share the results of our first innovation challenge and announce what\u2019s next!<\/p>\n<p>Our initial challenge \u201cLeveraging Data\u201d was a huge success! We know Innovative users are the most engaged and creative in the library industry, but we <strong>did not anticipate they would exceed every established benchmark for activity during this first challenge<\/strong>. Here\u2019s what we\u2019re talking about:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>683 Registered Users<\/li>\n<li>584 Challenge Participants<\/li>\n<li>316 Users Creating or Submitting Feedback on Ideas<\/li>\n<li>83 Unique Ideas<\/li>\n<li>453 Comments &amp; Replies<\/li>\n<li>1386 Likes or \u201cUp Votes\u201d<\/li>\n<li>7833 Pairwise Votes to Prioritize Best Ideas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These counts reflect a representative cross-section of all types of Innovative libraries and consortia from more than 30 countries around the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nine separate ideas about Leveraging Data were selected as \u201cwinners\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 that\u2019s more than 10% of the total ideas submitted during the challenge! And every single winning idea has been incorporated into Innovative\u2019s roadmap for analytics development.<\/p>\n<p>The initial release of our new analytics product is scheduled for the first half of 2018, so it won\u2019t be long before you see some of these capabilities in production! Others are planned as part of the longer-term product direction.<\/p>\n<p>Amanda Schukle, Product Manager for Analytics and Sponsor of our Leveraging Data Challenge, expressed how pleased she was with the feedback we received, \u201cThis was an ideal way to validate with a broad cross-section of users that we are on the right path with our Analytics initiative and to understand the priorities libraries place on various capabilities. I cannot overstate the value of this type of structured conversation among users in driving innovation for libraries.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What\u2019s Next for Idea Lab?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>next Idea Lab challenge opens on Tuesday, November 28<\/strong>! This time, it\u2019s a product-specific challenge concentrated on Sierra.\u00a0 The challenge question is:<\/p>\n<h4><strong>\u201cHow might we simplify public services workflows by enhancing Sierra?\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>With just a few weeks between holidays for many of our users, we are counting on intense focus from everyone to help us select and announce winning ideas before the end of the year. Start thinking about the possibilities now, so you\u2019ll be ready to submit your ideas when the challenge opens!<\/p>\n<p>Our Polaris users should get ready, too, as we have a Polaris-specific challenge planned for January 2018.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve also been working with the IUG Enhancements Committee on how users might share ideas that are outside the scope of an active challenge. We plan to open an <strong>Always Open<\/strong> space in Idea Lab for this purpose.
