Innovative\u2122, Part of Clarivate\u2122,<\/strong> announced today a deeper collaboration with Baker & Taylor, releasing an enhanced integration between the Polaris integrated library system and Title Source 360 ordering system, further streamlining the materials ordering process for libraries.<\/p>\n

This improved integration gives library staff a one-step ordering process without requiring additional ILS workflow steps for the library to prepare for the materials. Once library staff order materials through Title Source 360, they will not need to touch their Polaris ILS while Baker & Taylor<\/a> bibliographic records are shared automatically with the library\u2019s Polaris system. With that information, Polaris will automatically create the purchase order needed and send it to Baker & Taylor while also assessing the new records and deduplicating them per the library\u2019s guidelines.<\/p>\n

This integration includes a new user interface on Title Source 360<\/a> that allows Polaris libraries to select which Polaris Import Profile they want used for the record import and de-duplication process.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to work with one of our long-term cohorts, Baker & Taylor, on an integration that assists library staff through a key operational process,\u201d said Tom Jacobson, Vice President and Executive Library Advocate & Strategist at Innovative. \u201cOrdering new materials is a recurring process for all libraries that should be a simple and easy integration between book vendor and ILS, allowing library staff to focus their time on other activities.\u201d<\/p>\n

This enhanced workflow builds on the existing relationship and integrations between Polaris and Baker & Taylor, including the Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN). The ASN process includes a single barcode label that libraries can scan to bulk receive entire shipments in Polaris.<\/p>\n

In addition, as part of this enhanced partnership, Innovative and Baker & Taylor are collaborating to release a tighter workflow integration between the BTCat cataloging utility and Polaris through a new cataloging API. This real-time transfer of records between the systems will be coming soon.<\/p>\n

Polaris<\/a> offers a comprehensive ILS with web-based interface designed specifically for the unique needs of public libraries of all types\u2014single site, multi-branch, and consortia. The responsive web interface empowers staff to connect with patrons and complete tasks wherever is most convenient \u2013 in the stacks, at community events, or even working from home.<\/p>\n

Polaris includes interoperability with the most popular third-party library components making it easy for libraries to integrate with the tools they use on a regular basis. The fully documented Polaris API can be used for a wealth of custom integrations.<\/p>\n
