Innovative\u2122, part of Clarivate\u2122, is pleased to announce that the Milton Public Library in Ontario, Canada, has selected the Polaris ILS paired with Vega Discover to replace their current Sierra and Encore systems.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Milton Public Library (MPL<\/a>) serves the roughly 133,000 residents of the town of Milton, Ontario with three branches. In addition to a wide collection of physical and digital materials that include books, graphic novels, music, magazines, and video games, MPL has unique resources like the Medicine Learning Garden, funded by a grant to indigenize MPL\u2019s collection, which grows pollinator-friendly, native species of plants known by indigenous people to be effective medicine. The library also hosts beehives that produce honey that can be purchased throughout the year by visitors to each of MPL\u2019s branches. MPL also provides access to the H\u00e9ritage project\u202fof archival collections of Canadian history, a silent study room, 3D printing, a library of things, used battery and water testing drop-offs, and more. MPL programs include summer reading clubs for all ages, social services, story times, seniors socials, coding workshops for kids, Pok\u00e9mon card clubs, a knitting circle, board games, and, in Summer 2024, the opportunity to watch the Olympic games.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/b>When we were ready to consider migrating to a new library services platform, we worked with Innovative to learn about Polaris, and we\u2019re satisfied that it\u2019s the right fit for us,\u201d says Kanta Kapoor, Director of Support Services. \u201cWe\u2019re also excited about Vega Discover, which will provide our patrons with an interface more in line with what they expect from a modern online search experience.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Polaris<\/span><\/a>\u202fprovides an intuitive web interface that brings the full power and functionality of the ILS to the web browser. Polaris can be used on a computer or tablet, freeing staff to connect with patrons and complete tasks wherever it is most convenient\u2014even outside the library walls.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vega Discover<\/span><\/a>\u202f<\/span>is the responsive and<\/span>\u202f<\/span>accessible<\/span><\/a>\u202f<\/span>discovery module of the Vega Library Experience (LX) suite of patron engagement tools. Vega LX is a cloud-based platform that allows library staff to easily communicate and manage a full range of materials, programs, and services.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
